Learn About Alternative Medicine

There is so much to be learned about health and medicine, sometimes it is easy to get overwhelmed. Most people I know do not really take the time to think about the ways they are taking care of their body and the effects of their choices on their short and long term health. I have been learning a lot about various types of alternative medicine and I have become convinced that more people need to be informed that there are options for your health and fitness needs.

Basically, alternative medicine deals with a wide variety of non-traditional medicines and methods of treatment for all of the medical situations people can find themselves in. People have begun to be more concerned lately with the things that they are putting into their bodies, so alternative medicine has become somewhat of a buzzword that is being thrown around among health-conscious people right now.

I became interested in alternative medicine when I had to research and write about the latest trends in it for an article in my magazine. I had quite honestly never given much thought to the doctor’s orders for certain medications and methods of treatment until I began researching for this piece. I soon realized how cautious we should be about anything that we put into our bodies. After all, we only get one body to live in and take care of, so it is solely our responsibility to be knowledgable about ourselves and to make the best possible choices for our own health.

I think this ownership factor is the thing I appreciate most about people who are interested in alternative medicine. They are mostly proactive people who are looking for new ways to treat their symptoms and who are convinced that the more natural something is, the better it is for them and for their health.

There is far too much to say about alternative medicine here, so my simple purpose is just to inform you that you are responsible for your health. You are responsible for all of the foods you eat, the drinks you drink, and the medicines and treatments that you choose. So choose wisely. Take time to consider all of your options, and see if alternative medicine might provide a better solution for you and your health needs.

You can easily learn more by doing an internet search or by grabbing some books on alternative medicine. There is a ton of information out there, so just begin today to sift through the resources and find information that is helpful for you.

Fat loss:aerobics is not enough

Myth

When we aim at fat loss, aerobic exercise is the king!

Reality

Aerobic exercise is a proven fat burner.

For optimum results, though, you should combine aerobic exercise with other forms of exercise such as:

1) Resistance training and mainly training with free weights.

Resistance training will add muscle mass, which is beneficial for your basal metabolic rate since muscles are much more metabolically active than body fat.

That said, there are people that seriously overestimate this additional, metabolic contribution of muscles.Exaggeration always harms!

Resistance training will also help to:

- increase strength

- improve body functionality, balance and posture

- increase bone density

- induce aesthetical enchancement of the body

Try to determine the weight that will let you do 8-10 repetitions with an impeccable style.

Don’t buy into the myth of many repetitions for a higher definition!

Definition has to do only with the body fat percentage and surely a big number of repetitions with light weights will not be the best investment for your time.

For maximum fat loss, after you finish your weight training session – and with depleted your glycogen stores – you can involve into a moderate intensity aerobic activity for 20-30 min.

2) High Intensity Interval Training and preferably sprinting.

HIIT is a very effective and muscle sparing form of exercise for maximum fat loss.Combine HIIT with resistance training or total bodyweight workouts.

3) Cicuit training with multifunctional total body involving exercises.

Try to include:

- exercises for the upper body: e.g. various types of push ups (including explosive or plyo push ups).

- exercises for the lower body: e.g. squats, lunges etc.

- exercises for core training: spiderman lunges, mountain climbers etc.

You can compile a set with let’s say six basic exercises.

Perform them with no intervals and after a minimal interval at the end of the set – just to catch your breath – repeat them for 2-4 times.

- If you have limited time because of your multiple obligations.

- If for various reasons you dislike gyms

- and if you cannot exercise outdoors…

…total body workouts are ideal for you because they combine:

- aerobic and anaerobic training

- quick fat loss without a parallel loss of muscle tissue and potentially with some muscle gain.

(Yes! Under circumstances you can attain these conflicting objectives simultaneously!)

- excellent investment for your valuable time

- ample variety to fight off the possibility of boredom

- the option to use your own home as a gym

- considerable profits in terms of money and/or time.

Cyclical training with body workouts can give you – always in combination with a discliplined nutrition – a body envied by the most of the gym frequenters.

BUT…

…you need commitment, consistency, self motivation and self discipline, virtues owned by only a small minority.

To close the subject:

Fat loss and body composition improvement is a marathon and not a sprint race.

Take care:

*Excessive zeal can lead to serious training injuries and a recoil on your progression

*Consistency is the most critical parameter.

Select routines according to your fitness level and your spare time and try to acquire a minimal theoretical background on the subject. This will permit you to know what exactly you are doing.

Know About Malaria Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by a parasite, Plasmodium, which infects red blood cells. Malaria is characterized by cycles of chills, fever, pain and sweating. Historical records suggest malaria has infected humans since the beginning of mankind. The name “mal ‘aria” (meaning “bad air” in Italian) was first used in English in 1740 by H. Walpole when describing the disease. The term was shortened to “malaria” in the 20th century. C. Laveran in 1880 was the first to identify the parasites in human blood. In 1889, R. Ross discovered that mosquitoes transmitted malaria.

A person gets malaria from the bite of an infected female mosquito. The mosquito bite injects young forms of the malaria parasite into the person’s blood. The parasites travel through the person’s bloodstream to the liver, where they grow to their next stage of development. In 6 to 9 days, the parasites leave the liver and enter the bloodstream again.

Malaria is caused by protozoan of the genus Plasmodium.

Infection begins with a bite from an infected mosquito.

The parasite travels from the mosquito to your liver, where the parasite begins to reproduce.

The parasite leaves the liver and travels to the bloodstream, where it infects red blood cells. The parasite reproduces in the red blood cells, which destroys the cells and releases more parasites into the bloodstream.

Malaria is transmitted by female mosquitoes that carry the parasite in their bodies. When the mosquito bites a human, it injects a small amount of its saliva into the human’s bloodstream. The saliva contains parasites that travel through the person’s bloodstream to his or her liver. There, the parasites reproduce. Eventually, they leave the liver and travel back into the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, they begin to cause the symptoms of malaria.

Symptoms

Malaria symptoms occur at least seven to nine days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. Fever in the first week of travel in a malarial risk area is unlikely to cause malaria, however ill travelers should still seek immediate medical care. Although malaria is unlikely to be the cause and you must evaluate some other fever.

Can Malaria be Treated?

Malaria can be treated . Your doctor can prescribe medication that can result in a complete recovery. However, if malaria is left untreated, complications may occur.

Treatment

Prevention of malaria what is practiced in epidemic areas is by spraying insecticides like DDT. Many new drugs are available for malaria, however most of the drugs are derived from Quinine derivatives. Malaria often requires treatment with medicine (antimalarial medications). Most of the time antimalarial medications effectively treat the infection; however, some malaria parasites may survive because they are in the liver or are resistant to the medication .

Gelsemium

This remedy has no special hepatic; gastric or intestinal disturbances and it suits especially malarial conditions in children. The chill runs up the back or starts from the feet. There is a bruised feeling all over and a characteristic is that the patient wants to be held during the chill to prevent his shaking. The characteristic time for the chill is prevent his shaking. The characteristic time for the chill is about the middle of the day. The heat is attended with red face. Drowsiness, dizziness and dullness are characteristic symptoms.
